The Territory
Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG
The Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG territory, the historic Prosecco zone, stretches across the hilly belt of the province of Treviso, a succession of intricate landscapes between Valdobbiadene and Conegliano.
For over three centuries, it has been cultivated at altitudes ranging from 50 to 500 meters above sea level (specifically, between 300 and 400 meters in our case).
Valdobbiadene and its outlying hamlets form the productive heart of this area. Thanks to all the winegrowing and sparkling wine–producing businesses that make it up, our piedmont district is widely considered Italy’s most important wine region specializing in the Charmat method for sparkling wine.
The hilly climate and the geological characteristics of the soil make our territory ideal for growing grapes destined to become versatile, food-friendly wines, in the various and much-appreciated styles of Prosecco.
Historic Prosecco, recently elevated to the DOCG classification, is regarded as synonymous with Italian sparkling wine. Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG stands out for its lively elegance, pale straw color, moderate body, and its uniquely fruity and floral aroma.
The ancient blend still used today to produce Prosecco in our historic area consists predominantly (85%) of Glera (the original name of the grape variety later called Prosecco), along with indigenous grapes from our hills—Verdiso, Perera, and Bianchetta—which together complete the aroma of the primary variety.
